Social media Policy
​Lewes and District Visual Arts Association (LADVAA) has the following objectives according to its Constitution:

The objects of the Association shall be to promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in and appreciation of the art and science of visual arts including practical participation in them.

LADVAA’s objectives in using social media is to promote the Association, its classes, exhibitions and workshops etc. in accordance with its objectives.

At the current time, we have a website and we use Facebook and Instagram. Other social media platforms may be added in the future, subject to changing social media platforms, availability and/or costs.

​The website provides information about activities at The Paddock; classes, studios and the gallery. It also provides information about LADVAA, the charity and committee and history. The Chair and Social Media Manager have administrative access to the website.

Social Media content is posted by the Social Media Manager (SMM). Only the Social Media Manager posts content. The SMM, and other Trustees, including the Chair, have administrative access to accounts. The SMM will review content at least monthly and revert to the committee of Trustees should content be, or is becoming to be, high profile.

The Social Media Manager can be a member or a non-member of LADVAA. He or she will be selected by the committee of Trustees. The person will be selected as Social Media Manager on the basis of their knowledge and understanding of the social media world, its advantages and pitfalls.

Content takes the form of advertising posters for classes, workshops and events held at The Paddock. This includes events organised by the Trustees (Lectures, Art Sales, other ad hoc Sales (eg. Books, Equipment, Cake etc.) It includes advertising for the regular art classes held at The Paddock. It includes advertising for exhibitions being held at The Stable Gallery by both members and non-members of LADVAA.

LADVAA (via the SMM) may like or share third party content only where it relates to The Paddock. This includes art works, classes, workshops, exhibitions by our tutors or exhibitors or members.

LADVAA (via the SMM) will not engage in discussion or debate on social media platforms. We will not like or share third party content where it does not relate to The Paddock.

Any controversial issues raised by our social media content, for example if content should go viral, it will be discussed urgently by the committee of Trustees to LADVAA, who will take a view on how to proceed. In such cases, consideration will be given as to whether it has been deemed offensive and whether it should be deleted.

LADVAA does not take responsibility for rude or offensive responses to our content. Nor does it tolerate it. If such responses are found on our content, the content will be taken off our page. We will take a view as to whether to re-post that same content.

Any tutor or artist associated with The Paddock, or exhibiting at The Stable Gallery, who becomes the subject of online abuse through our pages, will be supported by the committee of Trustees in reasonable ways according to our ability. Such abuse will be reported to the police. Any such content will be deleted.

Decisions relating to rude or offensive comments will be made by the Social Media Manager, who will revert to the committee of Trustees if the matter is, or becoming to be, high profile.
